Carson and I started out at jerrys at 5:30 (no one else there weird) signed up for the tournament and headed for the launch. Launched the boat in the dark and fog and idled our way towards the fishing grounds. Thirty minutes later we find the bar that we want to start at. Caught a few trout right off then a couple reds. We put two keepers in the boat and then call jerrys to see how many people signed up . We find out that their has only been one boat and that was us crap. Oh well we have now caught 15 reds and 7 trout and we figure mine as well just make it a good day. We fished until we hit that magic number of 60 yes 60. I could not believe it no live bait. We caught a number of keepers but most of them were 16-17 inches. Who cares that was the absolute best day I have ever had. We left when both of us had caught 30 reds a piece. What an unforgettable day!!
What boat ramp did you depart from? I'm planning on taking my stepson fishing on Tuesday on would love to put him on a nice redfish and some trout. Was thinking of leaving from the lighthouse ramp or the one in St. Marks. From reading some of the posts it sounds like the fish are up the creeks.
Thanks for any pointers.
