Nav hazards east of the Lighthouse?

Speaking of running from the St. Marks lighthouse and onto the east flats. I have run that stretch plenty of times in 3' of water to the point where i might be too comfortable. I was looking at a navigational chart and it shows like four piles of rubble about a 1/2 mi to 1 mile offshore from previous post markers. I started thinking... i sure hope I don't hit one of those at high speed. I know when you get down by Stoney Bayou, the name says it all. But is there anything that you know of to hit in the stretch i'm talking about?

i try not to run in less than 5' but I'm a chicken. I putt around in the shallows until i reach deeper water.

I have seen a couple of small rocks at the mouth of Stoney Bayou, but other than that it's the occasional ghost trap that I have been lucky to pass while running to the east.

You're fairly safe until you get to the mouth of Horne's Creek. East of Horne's creek, you need to be very careful. I'm not sure just how far east of Horne's Creek the rocks go. I can only speak from my own experience. And I've never been east of Steinhatchee.

In a very shallow draft boat ( 2380 Carolina Skiff ) running in 3+ foot of water in an area I have run many times before I knocked a portion of my skegg off last week my buddy bent his prop and shaft in the same area the week before he usually idles way out and runs much further out than I do between Steinhatchee and Rock Island I always tought he was crazy to go out that far to run, now not so much.

HEY WAM, UNLESS SOMETHING HAS DRIFTED IN THE AREA, IT IS CLEAR FROM THE BIRDSROOST DOWN TO THE # 1 STAKE IF YOU ARE NORTH OF THE BAR THAT RUNS FROM THE BIRDSROOST TO THE #1 STAKE. WE GENERALLY STAY ABOUT 200 YRDS. OUT FROM SHORE TILL WE GET CLOSE TO THE (BLACK HEAD ROCK) WHICH IS JUST A LITTLE NORTH OF #1 STAKE AND THE ENTRANCE TO STONY BAYOU, TREAD SOFTLY IN THAT AREA ALL THE WAY INTO STONEY.

I have not fished that side of rock island I am talking about the spring warrior area in front of one of the creeks way past 200 yds offshore.

There are some hazards out from Econfina from broken down bird rack and you coould see timbers piled up under the water. I marked them after Dennis. The numbers were: N 3000020 W 08357969 Another hazard : N30000012 W 08357960. I marked them long time ago and never been back around them. I usually run out south out of Econfina so I dont get into them. They are in my gps as proximity waypoints and I hope that keeps me from getting too close. I usually use my map when riding around in the flats at Econfina. They are out past 2miles from the river off the hill in areas I thought was safe until Dennis hit.

I could be wrong, but I think it's like the third creek east of the St. Marks Ligthouse, just before Stoney Bayou. I fished up in there a couple times several years ago, but never caught anything that made me want to go back in there. I think the point was the rocks start just to the east of that.

Lordsfisher, you are correct. Hornes is the first creek west of Stony.
