Well I went back over to a area that produced some quality fish on Friday for me with Talltails. It turned out to be a very similar day again. We caught 15 or so reds from 19" to 26" with a few nice trout in the mix. I did notice a trend with these fish and there feeding pattern. It was a similar tide both days so I got to pattern the behavior pretty good. It seems that almost exactly 2 hours after low on incoming side of bar to just as the water starts to cover the bar the bite was exceptional. It seem that at that point the fish moved over to the outgoing side of bar, and began feeding on that side. I know this sounds like common knowledge to you red pros but I just wanted to give a little tip to whoever is interested in some winter technique.
Its pretty cool to validate a certain bar 2 or 3 days apart and catch fish at the exact time of the tide a couple days later,
A couple mid slot fish
Nice day of catching. Since you are offering tips, would you mind sharing what ramp you used. I heard the one at spring creek is closed so it seems the best choice would be shell point. I've not been up in oyster bay but it looks like it could be tricky navigating the bars.
The old ramp that was next to the fish house was closed a long time ago...there is another ramp to the south where the campground is located. It has a fee...$3 or $5
