St Joe Bay

Post by Reel Stoked »

Just booked our vacation house for the second week of April. I'm getting stoked to do some red/trout fishing!! Anyone been out on St joe bay lately, especially the area bay side of the stump hole?

I have been out there a lot this winter, a few fish around in that area, but you have to look hard. It will be a great day when April comes.

Fish should be everywhere by April.
Let us know how you do.

Trout will be full of roe and hungry. Work a Chug Bug and look out for hand grenades!

Rogue Reds will be on the  prowl too!

Awesome area to fish!!! You may also want to try fishing the "fingers" East of Blacks Island. Haven't fished there a bunch but when I get the chance it is always a BLAST.

What are the "fingers" of blacks island and how to I get there? How long of paddle do you think it is from the put in on the bay side of the stump hole? Thanks for the information.

See if you can open the link. I think this is where Capt. Keyser is talking about. I've never fished there, only scalloped around that area with little success. I did catch and release the biggest snail I've ever seen (horse conch) about 20" long.
