If the liberals were allowed to run the country for 30 years 50% of the population would be on welfare and expecting the government to be the answer for everything. The corporations and the middle and upper class would be strangled by over taxation and our economy would be in the toilet.
If the conservatives were allowed to run the country for 30 years 98% of the population would be working 16 hour days for slave wages with no sick leave or medical benefits. The other 2% would live like Kings.
The 2 party system is the biggest problem we have. There is no room for anyone to walk down the middle espousing common sense, reason, fairness, and truth.
Ever notice how when 2 people are arguing/debating, the truth almost ALWAYS lays in the middle?
Everything in moderation is the most overlooked truism known to man, IMHO
Wow. A lot of fear around here. The hysteria is to be expected given the status of our country and the world.
Time to get to work.
I'll add this though, I am tired of the white bashing.
Suber, great pic, but also to be expected after 2 million people converge somewhere.
Actually listening to what other people say is worth the effort.
Yeah, give it a few years. This is what the whole country will look like...

Nice outlook!! Is it really that bad?? Seems like everyone is fishing, hunting, and pretty much have a good ole time around here.
For now. Bush just left town yesterday.
In all seriousness, notwithstanding Obama's election prowess, our Country is still a right leaning nation. So, Obama will have to be a centrist if he wants a second term. He is not my primary concern. The problem lies in Congress with Pelosi and her ilk. That's a scary bunch.
Now we're getting to the real issue....Pelosi and Reid and their rubberstamping wannabe's....if Obama ever stands up to them I'll be the first to give him credit.
Even his cabinet selections scare me. I do pray for his safety though because with Biden and Pelosi waiting in the wings....well, enough said!
It may be that my sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.
I was there for the Promise keepers national day of repentance and prayer over a million people christians and mostly white.
That is what it looked like in the national mall when the folks left there was litter then too.
Our country is covered with litter the woods and waters too are all those bud cans & gulp bags in the water from folks that are not your race too?
How often do you litter when hunting or fishing? How often do you engage in cleaning up a mess that is not yours?
The nicest yard on my street is owned by a black man that works full time job and also has a side business he works full time and his wife does too.
He always has time to help our elderly white neighbor and is just a great guy to live near and I am glad to be his neighbor.
I have a white neighbor whose yard looks like crap and his kid is a juvenile delinquint and I really don't like living near him so you figure it out.
Color and charecter are not related I can take you to some really trashy white owned houses and even communities.
I have been in direct in home sales for twenty five years I have seen rich and poor black and white live in filth and clutter as well as clean and nice.
I have seen black and white with class and tact as well as tacky weird wacky and trashy, nasty ain't race exclusive.
Our country is in trouble, united we stand, divided we fall, keep sowing division and see what you harvest when you crop comes in.
Yesterday it was taboo today it is normal what the heck will they be doing tomorrow?
I thought we were discussing morality and beliefs, not the color of the man's skin, that's how it started anyway. I voted McCain because I thought he was the better choice not because he looked like me. I guess I was the only one.
RHTFISH, I'm with you on the backbone issue. If he stands up to those couple of nut jobs then we'll be alright (I think).
DS, made a good point 2 people will always have differing opinions but when they can come together for the common good is when change and betterment really happens.
In the words of the great Doc Holliday, "I'll be your huckleberry"
The big problem I have with liberals is they jump to make a law about anything.
Like for instance, they want to spend money to feed the hungry, yet on the same piece of paper would like to stop McDonalds from serving large portion meals.
There stance is Government regulation first, reason later. There is no MIDDLE of the road for them.
I will say the same thing about the overly religious right. I respect your beliefs, but do not try to force them on me.
The only thing that makes me lean a little conservative is at least the Republicans think a while before making a law, not the next day.
I too would like to see both partys gone and a middle of the road party formed.
Guys, everyone will have to admit that you feel like you need to take your lawyer when you are fishing there are so many rules and regulations. It is almost to the point I do not even want to go anymore. if they reduce the trout limits as I am hearing, I am selling my boat.

The more I know about something, the more I know that I did not know as much as I thought I knew that I knew.

WAM, with all due respect how much "united we stand, divided we fall" talk did you hear during the LAST four years when W was being blamed for trying to blow up levees in New Orleans and Sarah Palin was crucified with malicious intent by a brutal press (very same press now avoiding attacking Caroline Kennedy on her lack of credentials).
With all due respect, I bet there are far more conservatives on this board pulling for Obama to succeed than ever there were liberals praying for Bush to see success. I'm seeing conservative friends everyday speaking for a desire for the nation to thrive under Obama and just did not see that with my liberal friends (of which I have many) who seemed willing to see the country painted in a very negative light at best / fail at worst in the hopes it would further damage Bush and the republican party's reputation. You say see what harvest will come when the crop comes in -- we will see but I fear we are all going to see it work both ways. And by the way, how much did Obama preach about "united we stand" during W's tenure? Hmmm... food for thought

I hope he follows through on his promises but i think a lot of it was smoke and mirrors. I still want to see a primary document stating his birth. Not some watermarked photoshop image.

I don't recall saying what was attributed to me....I'm not nearly so talented!
In defense of the statement I would challenge anyone to simply look at the closeness of election results over the past several years as evidence of our major divisions.
A very simple and narrow plurality (which I would interpret as "getting by by the skin of your teeth") has become equivocal to an "overwhelming mandate."
I also observed our new President gave a much more enthusiastic response to the gay and lesbian band in the parade than he did most of the units and groups
during the latter part of the parade. Simple coincidence?
The reason more conservatives are pulling for Obama than liberals ever support any opposition is very simple and basic....liberals have no
value system nor morals nor patriotism (besides being idiots at large).
It may be that my sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.
I think everyone is missing the point of the picture. Its not the trash, but the lady in the wheelchair. She believes in the promises, and look around her, there is no help, and everyone just passes her by.
As for Obama, I'll support any president we elect, I'm an American first.
Wow I stirred up an ant bed. I like most don't care if he's purple, and no matter what party he represents no part of me wishes him to fail as the head of the greatest nation on the planet. I was just saying that i hope that this nation did not lay aside their values, and better judgment because it was the 'hip' or "in" thing to do.He promised change, change to what? He wants to set down and talk diplomacy with countries who does not no the concept. It bothers me that he sat under the teaching for years of a white hating america bashing fruitcake of a pastor and says only with the pressure from media groups like fox news and others alike..."Ido not share the views of my paster".......how do you do that?
Shoot up amongst us ,one of us has to have some relief !
Sorry about that RHTFISH, don't know how that happened... was directly quoting an earlier post from What A Mess...
