St. Marks, 1/31 The last day

Post by captkeyser »

Started out of the Ft. at St. Marks. Tried for some reds, but got nothing up river. Headed down to the mouth to one of my Winter trout spots in hopes of lifting my moral.... and by God it worked. Trout after trout for about an hour.... got my limit and instead of hunting mister red, I decided to take advantage of the lack of wind and head to some inshore rock piles. Lost a true Monster within the first 10mins of trolling, rocked me up hard and lost my plug. Ended up catching a number of shorts and one 25" keeper in 16' of water.

As the tide came in I decided to make a move. Went in and found numerous schools of reds pumping out of the creeks onto the flat. Tossed a pearl fluke in front of a large school and boated a 24" red.

Good day on the water.
