Stimulus Idea

Post by jsuber »

I heard this Stimulus idea:

Have all taxpayers, put their credit card debts from last year on their tax forms, and the governemnt pays them off, and the banks get their money back and the taxpayers get rid of their credit card debt freeing them to spend. With one stipulation, that the Credit card account is also closed. Sure many will get more credit, and buy more crap, but it will stimulate the economy.

Hope they give me a 1 year heads-up before this is implemented. Not that I would want to take advantage or anything. :-D

Inflation would rise 1000%. Giving people free money is not always the best idea.

I think that it would be a great stimulas idea to pay off all remaining debt on non comercial fishing vessels, and give 80 cent on the dollar for new boat purchases. :-D

Your not giving people money Tom, your giving them less debt. Same thing we gave those big banks, just spreading it around to the taxpayers, you know, the ones who gave them the money they are giving away.

I thought that was S.O.P.

I'll take it but there is no way that giving free money to the top of the ladder will EVER makes it way to the people that would actually use the money and STIMULATE the economy. Middle America needs the money and would use it to buy more stuuf and that would in turn create jobs and revenue and get the system moving again. But then again, that makes a little too much sense for either political party to comprehend.

What about the responsible taxpayers who live within their means and don't have any credit card debt?

Give them a $10000 tax break if they do not use the credit card debt recovery package.

Yeah but you and MD don't count. Majority rules.

And by responsible I assume you mean people that had money to start a business and didn't have to borrow any? Or had the money to pay cash for their house and cars? Come on, 99% ofd the country is in debt but most of them will pay back what they owe. The ones that won't don't deserve a dime.
