What works good to remove old registration letters and numbers?

I have heard of using a hair dryer to warm the letters up and a plastic putty knife.

x2 but after you use a razor blade to scrape the letters off. wd40 will get the goo off. works good on black shoe marks and road tar too.

I talked to an old man on the river one morning in Bainbridge who was spraying WD-40 on his plastic worms. He said he had been doing it for years and it acted like a fish attractant? Could be something to it or he could have been a very confused old dude!

Hair dryer and then some acetone to remove the goo..then some wax to replace the wax you stripped off...maybe some rubbing compound or cleaner wax to bring the gelcoat back out.

Before gulpses we sprayed wd40 on all saltwater soft plastic baits as an attractant...also kept them from rusting!

Not the greatest market and time for selling a used boat, unless you want to give it away. I'll just fish out of it for awhile.

Little late, but I finally saw it

I use a heat gun on low to warm up the letter till you see it starting to curl. Then remove it with anything plastic with a decent edge.....I use old credit cards. Anything other than plastic and you will scratch the surface. Remove the old adhesive with M-1 sold at Eppes Hardware...it wont harm the finish
