Re: Rods On Board
I am willing if my guest has his or her own gear and depending on the number of guests to carry as few as four rods that leaves four per angler I will provide gear for guests that don't have it is why I normally carry so many. Also I want to be prepared in case of failure wind knot bad reel or broken rod. Last trip I had a reel seat fail on a twenty year old rod. I think it was operator error but its fine I don't fish much high end stuff and that is why.
Yesterday it was taboo today it is normal what the heck will they be doing tomorrow?

Re: Rods On Board
My Bayshore has room for 20 rods, but I never haul that many. If I'm on my own, I'll normally carry two spinners, a baitcaster and my 7-wt fly rod. In the summer I'll also throw in a MH spin outfit for cobia or tarpon.
If clients are on-board, it depends on what we're fishing for but on a normal inshore trip (reds/trout), I carry two medium light spinners loaded with 8-pound and two medium spinners loaded with 10-pound. I change a lot of lures during the day, depending on the bite.

T.C.'s fibbing. This is what it looks like when I come to his house to pick him up.tin can wrote:The Scout would hold 12 rods, 6 on each side. The Gatortrax will hold 12 rods, 6 on each side. I take two rods and use one.TroutTrent wrote:This is a good ? for Steve and Butch
Steve and Butch use to carry a lot of rods on board untill NASA forced them to leave some of their rods at home. It seemed NASA had problems tracking their satilites while over the Gulf.
If we were all crazy, Wouldn't that make us all normal.
Re: Rods On Board
2 Spinning Rods, 2 to 4 bait casters, but if its not a tournament one spinner, two bait casters.

Re: Rods On Board
For me that mostly depends on the time of year and the area im fishin. Anything from inshore fishin in march/april we might only have 2 small spinners per person on board to summertime fishin offshore with half a dozen people we might be loaded to the hilt with 40 or so rods for any situatation that might arise.

Re: Rods On Board
Thanks for the opinions guys....it's obvious I am carrying way to many rods. If TC ever invites me to go I don't know where we will put all the rods!

The man asked how many I carry, not how many I own. You just wait till the next time we go. I'll take um all. (By the way, that's a very old picture).birddog wrote:T.C.'s fibbing. Re: Rods On Board
4 pinfish rods for bait catching. 4 bottom rigs. 3 trolling rigs. 1 large spinning reel for free lining a live bait. 1 or 2 offshore jig rigs. 2 light "grunt/sea bass/flounder" rigs for when the grouper bite is slow and the guests are bored. Add the dive flag and the clean up brush and we have 18 holders taken. The boat is equipped to hold 19 rods so I need to think of something else to take.
You just can't fix stupid.
