Goose Hunting in Virginia VS Redfishing Encofina

Post by LuckySOB »

I took a trip with a friend to VA to go goose hunting. I am wondering how much per pound the three geese I shot actually cost. Thursday morning 6:30 we go to the field and put out about 2,999,000 decoys and at 5:45 PM we haven't seen a goose yet. We pick up decoys and are standing around the trucks (3 of Them) and here comes about 20 geese. i load a gun and drop 3 out of the bunch. Next day we do a repeat of the putting out decoys and sitting in the field for nearly 12 hours with notta. About 4:30 Seaspot calls and asks if I wanted to go to Icky Saturday morning. I hope he caught plenty and I would much rather had been fishing than up here. I am changing my name from LuckySOb to something else.
No matter what, it's a good day.

About 5 years ago, I traveled all the way to Katy Texas, the mecca of goose hunting. Did not pull a trigger on geese. Saw a zillion and they stayed about a 1/2 mile from our spread. The "guide" was out of the pit with his facemask off talking to his girlfriend on the cell phone. Came home, heard some honking at my farm, put my shotgun in the back of my gator and while feeding my critters, 2 geese flew over my head. 2 geese dead. I haven't made any more trips to shot geese. :smt011 :smt005
Its a wonderful day in the neighborhood!

We gave the two guides enough Hll while we were there. Yesterday we went to DC and visited Obamas house and there were more geese and ducks there than in all of VA.
No matter what, it's a good day.

Just take the Lucky off and you have the theme to most of my hunting trips.

Just be careful out there. Some guys down this way have carried home some bird shot the hard way. They are pretty sure it was intentional. One guy even gave a description of the suspect to a police sketch artist and he came up with a drawing. I think I can post it. Be on the look out for this character.
