Raising a low boat trailer?

Post by Hit-n-Miss »

My Kenner boat trailer sits too low and I was thinking of flipping the axel. It is on top of the springs right now. I thought about putting it under it. Has anyone tried this? Thanks

Bud, I ve had a taller trailer. Leave it alone. You flip that axle and you'll never load your boat again at low tide, especially at Ecky. Thats one of the reasons they build em low, that and to keep the boat from riding so high going down the highway.

+1 on leave it low. Lower center of gravity and easier loading at low tides.

I am trying to figure why you think it is to low are you getting hung up on the ramp?

Maybe you could raise the ball and gain some clearence.

It is so low that I have to be real careful not to hit the ramp with the foot loading and unloading. And I had to dig a foot deep hole in the yard to let it all the way down to get the water to drain out of it, to keep from freezing.

Back it up to a ditch to drain it is the first thought I had. You need to be careful on the ramp what about a taller profile tire?

I know we have trouble getting my C.S. on & off the trailer at times because of how high it is.

You could raise the bunks why not check with the mfg. mine helped when I called him.
