Fishbites?

Post by JF81 »

Has anyone used these baits? If so, are they durable and are they a good matching bait in this area? I have heard of them but never used them, thought about giving them a try. Thanks in advance.

We got some tube baits from a sponsor handed out at sign-in last year for a trout tournament (I think they were Capt. Mikes? Someone correct me if I'm wrong) and each packet included 1 or 2 pieces of the fish-bites cut bait - the little traingle pieces to stuff inside the tubes. I used the tube baits 'sans-fish-bites' that day and a few others without much succes. The brothers Taylor won that day and Steve said he'd caught most of their bag on the free tube baits - wonder if he used the fish-bites or not? A couple months later I found myself fishing for reds on an overcast evening and those were the only orange softies I had one me. I stuffed the fishbites in and caught reds on them (4 or 5 in about 30 minutes) until I ran out of the fish-bites wedges...then nothing, so I'd say they probably made a difference. I also tried the Fish-bites 3 or 4" shrimp handed out at a NFGFC meeting in chartreuse under a cajun thunder hanging off the stern while fishing off the bow. I didn't get much on them, but I didn't put any real time or effort in to it either.
Mookbait! At least 401 times better than live bait!

Fish Bites was the cat's meow before the GULP/SLURP came into existance. Like the old popping cork, it went into the annuls of history when CT's were invented. Damn fish like the more expensive stuff it seems - go figure.

I'm still waiting on my check.

As far as Fish-Bites go, I've never used them with much success but I haven't found anything that catches them all the time.
