Feb 7 Tournament

Post by BayGator »

Got on the water at 8:00am and as everyone knows there was hardly any water anywhere. After trying at least 20 times from all different angles to try and get to my spot that had redfish last week, I finally gave up because there was just no way to get in. After scratching my head for a few minutes, I figured that fishing as close to my spot as possible might be the best option. First couple of drifts were slow and it was looking pretty bad by about 11:00am. I finally start seeing some fish, but they were not interested in anything I was dragging by them. I anchored down and saw five fish scattered out at about 30 yards and started fan casting hoping one would get interested. Finally got one to eat a gold spoon, my wife did an excellent net job, and we had a 25" red in the boat. Kept casting in that same location and got another fish to eat. Fished for another hour with no luck and decided to come in and head to the weigh in. It was a tough day to fish with the tides being negative low, but we hung in there and we had a great time. I enjoyed seeing everyone at the weigh in and can't wait until next time. Thanks to CC for putting on a great tournament, good job!!
