NFGFC Carrabelle 2-7-9
Two trout and a pelican.
After taking abuse at the checkin at Jerrys Bait and Tackle, Butch and I went to Savannahs for breakfast.
Seems like everyone else in the tournament had the same idea. No need to hurry with the tide prediction.
Once we did get to the launch site there was still no water.
It was a beautiful day, light breeze, sunny and warming throughout the day. We read water temps from 55-65 degrees.
Second cast caught a nice fat trout in the river. Shortly after, our pelican buddy took residence around the boat. The pelican continuously tried to grab the baits as they hit the water.
He was successful only once.
After releasing one of the biggest pelicans I have caught recently we continued on our redfish quest.
We fished the entire length of Dog Island without seeing a red, or any other kind of fish.
Came back across and fished hiway 98 flats, never saw a fish.
Pulled back up near the river and caught a fat 20 inch trout.
We still had a fun time searching on a pretty day. Still all we caught was 2 trout and a pelican.

JT, that Snatch -N-Reels per bird. He tried to feed him all day LAST Saturday.Jumptrout51 wrote:Shortly after, our pelican buddy took residence around the boat. The pelican continuously tried to grab the baits as they hit the water.

Glad you and Butch tore 'em up like most of us did. Good to see ya'll again.

Too bad it wasn't a catch-and-release trout tournament, you might have won, JT. Better luck next time.
Yours in the South

You should have drawn 15 spots on that pelican and brought him to weigh-in, Steve.

At least ya'll caught something
Me and BB had a skunk ridin in the boat all day...unless you count the oyster bar that I hung
