2/7/09 on the Tin Can

Post by tin can »

Had to wait a few minutes to launch the Tin Can, until there was enough water on the ramp to get over the rock pile. Ran to my spot and the fish were there. We were in less than a foot of water, and had fish tailing all around the boat. My partner, an accomplished bass fisherman, is new to saltwater. He had never seen anything like it. He's from Kentycky, usually fishes big lakes, and has told me on several occasions that if his bottom machine is showing less than 30' of water he's nervous. Well, he's been real nervous on every trip he's been with me. He was so excited. We put 3 good keepers in the boat in the first 20 minutes. About 45 minutes into the morning his son called him. He told his son what was going on and also told him "You know that boat the dealer up there has? Tell him I want it and I'll be up there to get it." I've never had anyone buy a boat while on a fishing trip with me.

Like most everyone else, we saw a bunch of reds all during the day, but only managed 3 more, all smaller than what we already had.

Look forward to seeing everyone at Keaton.

Sounded like a great day on the water! Tell your friend welcome to FL from another Kentucky boy. Heck, we're probably related.

I like the new graphics on the Tin Can. Glad you could introduce Jim to some good saltwater fishing.
