Rub Rail

Post by culrich »

Has anyone had to replace their rub rail? Saturday morning the boat was frozen and when we launched the rub rail hit the dock and broke apart like ice. Was wondering what it might cost to get it replaced. 18' Hewes

was it the entire rail or just the insert? Usually the center insert can be replaced easily with another rubber insert, rope or whatever.

There are about as many different types of rub rail as there are boats. But most are readily available. Here's one of numerous sites to buy rub rail insert.

Lay it out in the sun for at least an hour before you try to gorilla that thing in there. The insert can be a PITA if it is cold. I might go with rope next time.
