St Marks-redfish tourney
Short and sweet...saw 200-300 reds. Caught 200-300 less than we saw.
Threw everything in the box. Tried fast...tried not moving at all...tried everything in between. Most of the reds ran for the hills when the lure hit the water. I went home and blamed it on my old, noisy trolling motor...my wife isn't buying it.

E - I would get one and tell her you won it
Too bad on the fish...bright nights = late bites

Just don't blame the trolling motor purchase on me.Eerman wrote:Valentine's Day is coming upReel Cowboy wrote:

What was I supposed to do today?
Re: St Marks-redfish tourney
We had the same sort of day. It's hard when you find fish, see fish, but can't catch fish.

You wife wouldn't have a hard time believing that Chalk! Mine on the other hand wouldn't buy it, although I might try it one day!Chalk wrote:E - I would get one and tell her you won it![]()

I feel you on the noisy trolling motor. Mine sounds like an Apache helicopter on speeds 3-5 and yelps like a dog with it's tail stepped on whenever you try to turn it.
Boom goes the dynamite.
Re: St Marks-redfish tourney
Sounds like my day
Re: St Marks-redfish tourney
Hard to figure. I get that the noise may have kept them shut down but I've skinnied up to a school in my kayak and couldn't get them to budge. There are also times when they will only eat a live shrimp. That may be because of the trigger shrimp will pull and they can't stand it. I remember one day when I fished everything else beside people doubling up and I couldn't hook even one. I used 6 species of live baits (live and cut), gulps, flies, spoons... and zip nada nothing. I went back the next day at the same time and slammed them with shrimp. ??
Actually listening to what other people say is worth the effort.
