Redfish Tourney 2/7

Post by captkeyser »

We started off fishing in a not so familiar area. After about 15mins we got the feeling that we needed to move. Picked up and put in at the Fort at St. Marks. Fished up the Wakulla and down the St. Marks.....nothing. :smt011

Decided to make a premature move to the area were we found fish last weekend, but were a tad nervous as Ididn't thinkt that the tide had moved in enough. Well, I was wrong. After killing the motor the tails began to show, and by God they were everywhere.

Wouldn't take the Spook at first, too shallow for the Bite-a-bait or Bomber, too shallow for a grub.....on went the fluke.

The key was to target single fish tailing. The schools of fish would spook as soon as the plug hit the water. So we scoped the horrizon for the largest of tails, and trolling motored to them. The first fish of the day turned out to be our big fish. We caught a few more in the 25" class and decided to call it a day around 1:00pm.

It was a wonderful day, weather, weigh in, and company. Thanks to all of those who put it on.
