I am looking for information on what type of trolling motor to purchase for a 19 foot Pathfinder. Foot controlled or not, # thrust, lenght of shaft, brand, do they last long enough that I could buy one used?, etc. New to the Saltwater!
Get one made for saltwater(I learned the hard way)Riptide or Great white,24volts,and the more thrust the better because you can use it on lower settings. I would suggest around 80lb thrust. And yes buying used is a good option because these things rarely fail. I know alot of guys have the Riptide but I like the break away shaft on the motoguide because i've broken a minn kota shaft and even though they are warrantied its a pain to get fixed.
I've got a Motorguide 80 something # thrust on my 22' bay boat and it does a good job for me but if I had to do it over again I would have gotten the wireless instead of the tiller steer.

I had a wireless Motorguide and I hated it. I really like my Minn Kota Riptide.
Them wireless are alright, if you get the remote too. I have one on my Mako and I still find myself grabbing the head to turn it. You can't go wrong with a riptide but make sure you get a 24v.
I have a 80lb 24v MinnKota riptide on my 20' Skeeter Bay. Mine has the 3x steering with tilt head and extendable handle and 62" shaft. Personally, I like the tiller handle type better than the remote controll or foot controll for the purpose of simplicity.....less shiot for the saltwater to eat up....anyway you can't go wrong with a MinnKota riptide
