"Good Judgement" comes from experience, ... and a lot of that..... results from "Bad Judgement".
I never take my multiplier reels apart.
I rinse them in warm water, when I return from a sea trip and lubricate them through the appropriate apertures (too embarrassed to say "nipples"
).
On my smaller Abu,s, changing the spools is as technical as it gets.
I found out long ago that.... me fiddling with reels = expense.
