Advice on Fly Type??

Post by Flanders »

Going to be slinging some bugs at some reds and trout in Aucilla Saturday. Or at least attempt to. Any body got any advice on what type of fly they might be hitting?

You think maybe this poorly tied purple toad might work?

They'll work fine. I would trim the heads to taper back like an arrow. The fly will be more aerodynamic in the air.

If you get the fly in their face they will usually eat!

Two suggestions...tie up some purple and black as well, in case they are finicky...and you'll want some lead on some to get the fly down quickly.
Good Luck.

In nature there are always exceptions to every rule :-D

Redfish with face in grass don't see and no eat.

I started tying these Marabou Shrimp flys. Thought about trying them also.
