Keaton 3/6-3/7
Drove down Friday afternoon and got everything situated at the condo around 4:30. Dropped the boat in to do some scouting since it was my first trip to Keaton and I was flying blind. Rode over to big grass island and looked around for a while and decided that would be as good a place as any to start the day on Saturday. Headed back in and saw CC and Pat so we stopped and shot the breeze for a while. Filled up on some good food at the cook out and hit the sack. Met up with everyone at the dock and headed out south to find a lot of dry land in the spots we had looked at the day before. Fished out a little deeper to start and it was slow to say the least. I finally got a good hit and a nice fish started peeling drag off the reel. I thought for sure it was going to be a nice red until I saw the white belly of a big trout roll on the surface. Bo got the net and I got the fish within a foot of being caught and saw the hook was stuck in the trouts head and not securely in his mouth. The fish made a run to the back of the boat and I tried to horse him back up to the front when the hook snapped out and he slowly swam off
. After that the cycle of catching one fish every 2 hours started and by 2:00 we only had 2 keepers in the live well. I had already come to the fact that this was going to be my first tournament that I would show up without a limit when finally we started catching fish close to a channel one after another. We managed to get five in the box just in time to head in to the weigh in. Keaton had some really beautiful areas to fish, but there just were not any fish in them, but we still had a good day and enjoyed seeing everyone. See everyone next month!!

It was great shooting the breeze with ya a little BG.
Keaton does have some nice areas, grassy and clear to the South and rocky as hell to the North. Just pick your poison and go to it.
