Trolling Motor Housing

Post by Redphisher »

The top housing on my MotorGuide is falling apart. I heard some rattling and decided to investigate. I discovered all but one or two of the plastic sleeves that the screws go into are coming apart. Any thoughts??? Also I've been having blow outs with the rubber bushings that go under the mount (the black ones that hold the motor on). I've done all I can to stop the motor from vibrating when I am running but I still go through several a season. I am about ready to thru bolt it to the deck. As long as I put some sort of shock absorber under the motor does anyone see a problem with bolting it on the deck? I have a separate piece on top of the front deck that the trolling motor mounts to.
