Econfina Reds/Trout 3-13-09

Post by dolphinatic »

I promised to take the boys out fishing today after work, so at 4:00 we show up Econfina. We launch the Glastron (which hadn't seen the water since last year's Carrabelle tourney) and headed out the mouth and ran east. We found a few boats fishing close in, but no fish. We moved out a little and Avery hooked a nice flounder which he threw back. Still no trout. We moved back towards Econfina and could only find shorts. With not alot of time to fish, we decided to run to a familiar spot that I was trying to give a rest. Since I had my 5 year old son Zach with me for a change, I went where we had been catching fish the past few weeks so he could fight with one. After a few minutes, he found his first trout

It wasn't too long later that he found his first red....

Now that is the look of a proud fisherman!!!! I would have taken that one today

Eventually, Avery got in on the red action....

I only caught a few shorts, but the boys had alot of fun. We headed in around 7:15 with a nice limit of reds, but no keeper trout. Guess we'll have to go back tomorrow  Sure was a beautiful afternoon/evening to be on the water :D

Now that's what its all about!
To fish, or not to fish, . . . those are the answers.
