Fuel water separator question

Post by FlatCrazy »

I installed a fuel water separator on my boat back in October and with all this E10 gas, I was not sure how often to change the filter. I am guessing it is better to change the filter before you notice a problem with the motor. Twice a year seem reasonable assuming you are just a weekend warrior? FYI, my filter is solid white, no clear bottom to see the water in case that was going to be the answer. :D

Once a year is probably enough. However, it needs to be a 10 micron filter.
What was I supposed to do today?

Like JT said, keep a spare on the boat. I also change mine every year and keep my tank full when in storage. This will help keep condensation in the tank to a minimum.
