Hoping for the best, preparing for the worst (Lost dog)

Post by BayGator »

My most loyal and best friend Buster has come up missing in the last day and I have had no luck in finding him yet. I have searched nearly 3 square miles around the house, all the roads, neighbors, and surrounding woods and I cannot find any trace of him. My wife only made it through the morning today fighting back tears and felt she needed to re-start the search again. I am "at" work in body but really I am just sitting here hoping that my favorite fishing partner is OK somewhere and I just haven't made it to him yet. I know a lot of you on here are dog lovers, so please keep Buster in your thoughts.

hoping you and Buster find your way back together. Looks like he has tags, but it may be worth a call to the local shelter or vet anyway to see if someone found him.

Checked all the local shelters today with no luck.

BayGator, can understand if you might not want to share your exact address, but if you can give a bit of info on your general location sure might help others be on the look-out.

And on a personal note, sure sympathize with you... I had two Great Danes I dearly loved jump my fence during a fierce storm a few years back. Like you I started my search with a 3 square mile radius and quickly started getting reports of sightings (most while I was "at" work too). They stayed together for 2 weeks and covered at least 18 miles across Jefferson county before I finally rescued one of the two while he was eating on a porch of a kind soul that called me... despite all the sightings of them together, we then never found another clue as to what happened to the second dog. They crossed major highways at least three times so though the odds might not be good in your search I say don't give up hope quite yet.

Again, any info you can share on your location will help all of us keep an eye out. And will definitely keep Buster in our prayers.

I hate to hear that John, judging by the picture it looks like you got a name tag on the dog. Hopefully it has a phone # on it and a honest person will find him. I got the same dogbone tag on my Golden and it has my name and # on it. Good luck in your search.

Most vets and local shelters will keep a listing of lost pets. I would call around and even distribute some pics in hope of him turning up. It is always a heart breaking loss but best of luck and let us know if he shows back up!

Definitely upsetting to hear. Best wishes and luck in your search, I'm sure he'll turn up. Maybe he's just with a lady friend :)
