It always seems as if I'm the odd man out ... :smt017
I'm on my 2nd Dodge 1500 4x4. I don't know about anyone elses opinions about them but they have always been a very dependable truck for me, Pulled alot of trailers, stretched alotta fence & hauled a lotta stuff ... nuttln butta workhorse. Between 2 Dodges with a total of 150,000 miles on them...I only replaced 1 radiator, 1 heater core & a few brake jobs here & there, not to mention the fact that they 're easy to work on. Hell, if I can then anyone can.
Had an F 250 but I just sold it, wasn't a bad truck ... just never used it.

I have a 1999 F-250 4x4 crew-cab with 117 k on it. In that time it has never let me down. Very little problems at all, the 7.3 is the best motor ever put in a Ford truck.

I have pulled combined weight of truck and trailer almost 26000 at 85 MPH on the interstate up and down hill. We left all Chevy's and Dodge's at the curb!!!!

As for the work end of it get a Ford, if your wife drives it buy a Chevy and if you want to work on it buy a Dodge!!!

In an attempt to be politically correct....this reminds me of a mens' frontal spigot liquid emissions distance contest.

Now blondes vs brunettes vs redheads, etc.,......that's a worthwhile argument!

I had a '97 F250 that I sold in '03 with 200,000+ hard miles on her. Never a minute of trouble except a broken belt. The '03 has the 7.3 in it also and has been a good one as well. 125,000 miles and many more, cause she's paid for.
They screwed the pooch with the 6.0 but I've heard good things about the new motor. That Duramax was a piece of junk the first couple of years, but the 6.0 was too.

That is not a smart thing to do with any truck towing a trailer.....

Myself, I am in no hurry to die in a fiery crash on the interstate pulling a camper.

I did not say it was smart I just said I did that. Actually only briefly due to the weight. I drove tractor trailers for several years so the load was not an issue and the truck is setup for it.

At work I had all three over the last 8 years. I drive a great deal and put about 70k per year on a truck. The 7.3 was the best and the 6.0 is by far the worst. Any one looking at a Ford truck if it has a 6.0 diesel engine DO NOT BUY IT. The mechanic and I were on a first name basis when I had that truck. Put 140K on it before getting rid of it. I now have the new 6.4 and while it has had a couple of issues here and there Ford can actually fix them and get you back on the road. The 6.0 they cannot. Just my .02 worth hope this helps someone looking for info.
