Weekend fishing with Pops (Dawg)

Post by WaltDawg »

My folks called me this week and said they were making a trip down down from Atlanta for a few days at the beach. My dad just bought a Ocean Kayak for paddling around in the surf, but I wanted to show him that it was multi-functional. Image

Made it down to the coast with enough daylight for a quick trip in the yak and started off with a few late afternoon redfish.

Fished the grassline after Flipper showed up and still managed to find a couple more.

Flipper wasn't our only competition, so I paddled by this guy to give him the evil eye.

Pops missed a couple trout that afternoon, so we got up early Saturday morning to see if we could find any action. The wind was howling, but we decided that the fish don't really care how windy it is. After a few minutes out, I hear someone hollering in the distance. The pole was steady bent, so it must be a red; congrats on your first snot cat dad!

Fished for a few hours longer trying to stay out of the wind and Pops landed his first game fish of the weekend!Image

I told him that convicts aren't exactly the easiest fish to land, so I was I'm proud of you Pop. Even for a landlubber.

Great day Walt! I am sure your dad had a blast, especially since he got to leave Atlanta for a few days.
