Flint river
I'm dieing to go cruising in the boat and because its a bad weekend for fishing I'm going to go to the flint river. My plan is to launch at a large launch I found just south of bainbridge off of hwy 27 and running south to the sandbar to check it out... then head north up to around 6 miles up river from bainbridge.. Any tips to navigating this river? Is the channel marked?

Re: Flint river
Couple of things.
At the sand bar south of the Boat Basin, when you get to the power lines, it is no wake. I have seen quite a few tickets handed out there. There are also some smart arse young game warden's down there. I had a run in one day with one about my top strap (4 strap vest) not being buckled on my Jetski vest.
Going north, you will be fine staying toward the center of the river. I would not venture further north than the north sand bar about 8 miles up river, since there are some huge boulders in the middle of the river about a mile north of it.
There are no markers north of the boat basin, but they are not really needed.
I have seen some 26 ft pleasure boats run with no problems up and down that stretch.

The more I know about something, the more I know that I did not know as much as I thought I knew that I knew.

Re: Flint river
River was in pretty bad shape because of the storms.. very murky and red and there was "debris" in the river some logs the size of my boat
.. obviously i didn't go far(didn't even get on plane) we were just scoping out a place for summer camping and it looks awesome for it..
