water skiing

Where can I safely take the family and a few friends water skiing? The closer to Tallahassee the better. Perferably somewhere where there's not a lot of large boat traffic and no real hidden dangers.

Lake Jackson is full. That used to be the place to ski.

Apalachicola river(my fav)(about an hour), ocklocknee state park (1hr), flint river(about 45 min).. Never been on lake jackson.. Ill have to check it out..i checked it around 3 months ago and didn't seem high as it should be to launch.. If your boat is under 18' you can pay to launch at the Fsu Rez(cheaper with a student) and ski lake bradford its a small lake and dont go on a weekend unless you like dodging kayaks and canoes...

Flint river, go north from the boat basin in Bainbridge. Find a nice little stretch and have fun. Just stay off of the shorelines as there are some rocks here and there. Do not go past the north sand bar (about 6 or seven miles up river) unless you like dodging boulders....

The times I have been to Ochlocknee State Prk, it was kinda crowded around the island in the summer.

Apalachicola River is nice. Go to Chattahoochee launch and head south. I am not sure how high the water/ flow is right now. You can probably check it on USACE Mobile District website. During low flow there are lots of sand bars to to hang out on and walk around.

Alligator Harbor/ St Theresa in front of the houses.

People tend to ski in the cove for Oklawaha on the north side of Lake Talquin There are probably too many stumps to ski anywhere else.

Hahaha....and make sure you go the right way around the island out there. That will get you ticket for sure!

My kids want to go wakeboarding today for the first time. I have a 21' carolina skiff, not exactly a ski boat. Where would you go today, closest to Tallahassee as possible?

Come up to Bainbridge and launch at the boat basin. 6 ramps to choose from with floating docks. It's a 45 minute drive from Lake Ella to Bainbridge.
