First Dragon Encounter
Bound to happen, but I had my first dragon encounter with the new boat. I was idling so it's just a few scratches on the lower unit. Definitely hurts me more than the boat. Of course I was in an area I thought to be "safe," if there ever is such a thing in our area. The coordinates for others, these numbers are a little north east of the actual rock cause I turned the motor off, tilted the engine up, and cursed before I got to the gps to mark. Good luck out there.

The best way to find them is just run anywhere you want to. If you hit one mark it, and stay away from there next time.

184,376 rocks within 1 square mile.
I can show you a high speed low water route through there, if you like.

Uh yeah, I've been through your high speed low water routes before.Jumptrout51 wrote:184,376 rocks within 1 square mile.

$4500 later and the boat was as good as new.

Re: First Dragon Encounter
Thanks for taking one for the team.

Re: First Dragon Encounter
I am relatively new to this forum and I may be re-hashing old ideas, but seeing these numbers for Nav Hazards made me wonder if a catagory for Nav Hazards could be created. A "drag net style just the facts" area with no replys, no politics, no for fun BS, just a brief description and the numbers i.e Big Rock south of Keaton or submerged post off Rock Island and then the coresponding numbers. (I know I have a few I could add) Maybe Tom will kick this around and decide if it's plausible and/or possible. Just an idea for thought.

Re: First Dragon Encounter
Sure thing Waltdawg. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope to report about the fish I catch this weekend instead of the rocks I hit, but either way I'll be out there and I'll let you know how it goes.
Thanks for the tip Birddog, until the water clears up I may stay out by the stake line or the peters rock area.

I was in 300 feet of water Saturday hauling tail off Destin. I hit a piece of plywood scrap nailed to a 4 by 4 and bent my prop up and scratched the fool out of my hull. Those moving hazards are what scare me!
