Fishing the San Francisco bay!! 4/24/09

Post by boilermaker »

I'm out here on the Left coast for work. Been out here 14 days already, man I'm ready to get home. I spent the weekend in San Fransico in hotel on Fishermans Wharf. Which is right on the bay under the Golden Gate, tons of charter boats and real deal working harbor. I got up Saturday and ventured down to the wharf with the intentions of finding a party boat or something and going and trying to hook up some halibut or rock bass, or hell anything. Well I found a bunch of empty slips and found out all them left at like 5 AM, not a whole lot a good at 10AM. So while sitting on the docks I struck up a conversation with a ole timer. He was telling me how the bay was a like a grocery store , All types of fish and no clue of what you would catch but plenty to catch. He eventually offered to take me out if I gave him a $100 for fuel and bait. I agreed and headed down the dock to his boat. Where we arrived at a 40 year old, wooden 19fter!!! He then proceeds to tell me that its gonna be rough as with the 30 mph winds seas will 4-6 in protected water but once we get out there expect 6-8's!!! I'm thinking to myself your crazy old man!! I just couldn't do it!! I didn't want to lose my life in San Fran. So I guess not a fishing report but I do have some cool pics!!

After graduating hs and never been out of Ga, I spent the summer of '67 on the west coast. Haight Asbury. Golden Gate Park, flowers in your hair, fishermens wharf, China Town, Ripleys, make love not war, British invasion, TR4 convertible, San Fran to Tiuana----------------- Well I guess most of you are too young to understand. It was quite an adventure before coming home to attend a little Baptist college in Tn.
Tom, sorry I forget to talk fishing sometimes.

I was out there last spring. Lots of good eats down on the wharf and lots of weird people. On homeless guy would huddle under a bundle of palm froms and if someone paid him, he would jump out and scare the shitz out of some unsuspecting tourist.
Its a wonderful day in the neighborhood!

An anti-Obama rally....you've got to be kidding me....that's un-American!

Oh, but it's California so un-American is the norm!

Really nice pics!
