Reeling For Kids Tournament Steinhatchee

Post by Warrior »

Fished a two day tourney out of Steinhatchee with a new partner Kyle, Jr was off Bass fishing this was a slam tourney with a red ,trout and cobia.Day One Kyle met me at 5am Friday morning at my house loaded the boat and off we went told him of my plan he agreed just hopefully it would all come together. Our plan was to trout fish till 9 and cobia fish until we landed one and spend Dat Two trout and red fishing. We finally made it to the water and was ready to fish our first three spots produced nothing except a six spot redfish that was leading after day one went to spot four at 8:00 and Bam Kyle got a solid 24'' trout in the boat but it did't stay long he was going to show it to me and it slipped straight in the water it went with no more trout bites at 9:15 we head to our cobia hole get anchored in place Kyle is already fishing while I am getting rigged as soon I throw a live pinfish in it gets eat we unanchor chase hit with the boat gaff it a sold 26lber in the cooler decide to try one more time ease back up there I throw and the pinfish don't make it two feet under before I see another cobia eat him we get him boat side and release was not going to help out.By now it was 11:00 I say lets go catch a red running to spot in two foot of water I see a Ray take off and goodnes a large cobia following Kyle grabs the reel I get a pinfish he makes a perfect cast hookup and the fight was on for 50 minutes gaff him 37.4lbs we was give slam out all of our cobia came on a abu 6500 with 40lb power pro.It was a long ride back decided to go in and weigh at 2:30 won Big Cobia for day one.We could fish straight thru until Sat at 3:00 decided to go catch a better red than the 4.4lber we had at around 7:00 I finally found a good bunch after a few over sized ones I finally caught a solid 26 1/2 that was 6.7lbs called it a day.Day two time to catch a trout 1st spot I caught a 21'' 2nd spot was slow I changed to a skitter walk and not long after that it happend Bam Big head shake netted her and measured solid 25'' Trout in the cooler thought around 5lbs.It was time to try and upgrade our red with one of them Big Rocky Creek Reds but it never happend caught several 25''ers then I hooked a smaller one tring to shake it off at the boat and noticed all the spots we were able to get it and win the Spot category .Off to weigh in get there to see we was still leading Big Cobia weighed our Red at 6.7lbs and our Trout only went 4.5lbs Spotted Red had ten spots. After it was over we won the Master Inshore Slam,Big Cobia,2nd place Trout and Most spots on the Redfish our Big Red endrd up around 5th place.

Dang son, after all that and she made you do yard work all day, you might want to get her retrained. :smt005

I NEVER though I'd say this; but, I'm with JT51. All that prize money should have earned you a yardman.
