Need Advise

Post by rbraswell »

I am looking to purchase a saltwater trolling motor. I have it narrowed down to either the Riptide (MK) or the Great White (MG). I'm leaning toward the Riptide. Can anyone give me an opinion based on their experience? Thanks.

Minn Kota - Pros - Composite shaft - few parts. Cons - Limited prop sizes - non telescoping handle
Motor Guide - Pros - Telescoping handle, three blade prop. Cons - Metal shaft.

Minn Kota gets my vote for the composite shaft - I would have bent a baker's dozen Motor guides by now.

I have been using an old motor guide from around 98' or 00' (i don't know exactly what model, can't remember). Things a machine, it pushes our giant boat around, and thats a true test. A friend of mines riptide just quit working the other day and he can't figure it out. Just my two cents. If they make Motor Guides like they did before, they are beasts.
