Made the trip down Sat. morning with Grasscarp in tow. We fished the bars at the mouth and the flats out from the bay. The weather was windy but layed just enough to get in a couple of hours. The tide was high, the water stained, not sure of the water temp as my GPS showed 96. We caught 10 reds on the bars with only 1 making the min. slot. We caught the spanish and trout on the flats between the 2 channels. The spanish were thick but finicky and moving quickly on us.
Sunday we bottom fished with Capt. Steve on the blowIII. The seas were fairly rough which made for a long day for a couple of the guys. We fished 80 feet of water and did o.k. Capt Steve is normaly a cinch for the limit but the groupas did not cooperate. The real crime is throwing back the 15 or so red snapper.
I fished a half day monday inshore on the panacea flats and only caught ladyfish and a cat.
Y'all got some good eats right thar it is a shame about the Snapper though I fished between Piney Island and Bottoms Monday morning and got a limit of Reds and Trout ya musta went to the wrong spot

Wevans are you fishing between Piney and Bottoms road. I have tried to get there and done nothing but run aground. You could mail me a map with gps coordinates and track lines. Im sure me and Roadtrip can provide you with beer or a map of where not to fish.
Depends on how much yer boat drafts and it helps ta know where the half dozon skinny channels are at also I seldom fish in more than 3 foot and often in 2 foot and less the 2 big Trout that I got was coming off one of the skinny channels and drifting into the flats

Wevans ill have to go back to that area and try it. Looked at the map last night and i see what you are talking about. Are there any oyster bars in that area to worry about?
Only if you go behind Piney Island "and a couple hard to get to ones" shallow water and sand bars are the majority of the area
