NFGFC June 6 tourney

Post by Bow'd Up »

Me and AJ headed to Ecofina for the JBT tourney. Met up with RC at the ramp to get my brand spanking new rod. Matthew does a jam-up job on his rods built to the specs of the buyer. Threw a new Curado on my new custom rod headed out for a day of catching trouts. We headed east first thing and started chunking top water. And chunked and chunked and chunked. Finally put a 19.5" red in the boat at 8:30 on a 7"jerk shad in 2' of water. We were getting nice blowups but no hookups. At around 9:15 I finally caught a 18" trout on a super spook. Next cast, big blow-up but nothing. 10am still found us in 2' of water and AJ gets a huge blow-up on a Top Dog and hooks up to a 23" red that we put in the box. 11am found us heading back west to look at some different water. Should have stayed at spot 1 as the new water produced nada. Noon-thirty found us back at spot 1. Still chunking top water, AJ has a huge trout roll up on a Top Dog, I mean she came all out of the water on top of that bait but managed to miss any hooks and did not bother to come back. Much more chunk and wind followed. We moved a few miles back west into a little deeper water. 2pm, AJ puts a 17.5" trout in the boat fishing a grub under a CT in 4' of water. 3pm finds us still trying to put trout in the box and needless to say at that time, I knew we would not make the weigh in. All in all, not a very productive day but beat the heck out of the honey-do's that I would have done otherwise. :hammer:

You missed a heck of a weigh in. What you lacked in quanity you certainly made up for with quality.
It was good getting to chat with you at the ramp and when things slow down for me a little, we'll have to hit the water again.
