Wednesday special with Brian at Big Bend Fishing

Post by What a mess »

Got down with my old fishing partner that moved to Savannah and checked into the lodging. I hade smoked a couple of butts so we started with a great supper pulled pork sweet potatoe an slaw, and a bad nights sleep. Got up early prepped our stuff headed off to get an omlet and some coffie. We showed up at the Hag and they were getting it together. He said they slammed them Sat. met a couple of folks that were going and watched them load a bunch of beer. We waited for ever and the other pair never showed up 1/2 hour late we leave for the grounds where they had limited on Snapper and Grouper by noon 4 days before. It was slow, we were catching a couple of fish but did I mention it was slow? My flat line went off but dropped the bait. It ran down and nailed my buddies and it was on he got a fine Cobia that did a great fight with a little dance on top at the end. :smt007 Gaffed and ice (read report on last nights Cobia burritos). :lick:
That did it for my buddy he did the happy dance high fives were handed out.

What followed by some loud whinning and then I saw the Omlet go flying through the air. Boom boy can that kid barf with the volume turned up to boot. No quiet erps for him RALPH BUICK MOMMY!!! :smt078 :smt078 :smt078

We proceeded to mull around in 45 - 50 foot for three more hours with little to show for it. :stupid_1 I am thinking I chi wow wa this is going no where fast.

Somewhere around 12:30 I started calling him :-D "Captain Fat Bazztard you don't give a damn if I catch a fish or not" :-D in a cheezy ethnic voice off a Buddy Hacket routine, and we ran out to 65' and just to show he wasn't mad he hooked a fish and passed me the rod. Just to show him I wasn't mad I went to work on them fishes. I switched back and fourth between a big spinning rod with a jig and cut bait and my digging gear. We landed the usual suspects Gag, & Red Grouper, Snapper and an occasional Pink Mouthed Grunt no Black Sea Bass were caught.

So if your trip is heading south insult the Captain "that shouldn't be the moral of the story should it"? :smt017

We did have a great time of course I wish we had gotten deeper a little earlier we woulda finshed our limits. ;-)

It was hot as heck my buddie got the Cobia of his dreams, those guys poured the beers non stop and never seemed to notice. :drnk_1

We all lost some good fish and I did get my happy on before it was over. :smt041
