GAS LEAK???

Post by boston1 »

HELP PLEASE! I HAVE A 95 TROPHY WA AND I DID NOT TAKE THE PLUG OUT AFTER THE LAST TIME I WENT FISHING. I HAD ABOUT A FOOT OF WATER IN THE CABIN. SO I PULLED THE PLUG DRAINED THE WATER OUT A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO. I WAS CUTTING THE GRASS LAST NIGHT NOTICED THERE WAS A PATCH OF DEAD GRASS AT THE END OF THE BOAT. WHEN I WENT OVER TO THE BOAT I COULD SMELL GAS!!! I OPEND THE CABIN DOOR AND I COULD SMELL GAS THERE TOO. I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS BUILD UP FROM ALL THE WATER IN THE BOAT. THIS AFTERNOON WHEN I GOT HOME I WENT AND CHECKED OUT THE BOAT AND IT WAS STILL DRIPPING GAS. CAN ANYONE HELP ME??? I HAVE NO CLUE WHERE IT IS COMING FROM.

Check your fuel lines, from the tank to the motor, for cracks. Check your fuel/water separator filter for rust and leaks. Also, check the fuel gauge sending unit, where it's fastened in the tank, for a gasket leak.

If it's continuously leaking I would suspect a cracked fuel line, or the separator. If not one of those, I would start looking for a leak in the tank.
What was I supposed to do today?
