Post by wevans »

Went back to the Ochlockonee Saturday morning ta try the Syripers again and got one keeper Bass and no Stripers "found out why to" :o Back at the house at 9:30, eat and headed over to "GASP" Aucilla "the wifes uncle loves that place" :-? fished till 5:30 and got 2 keepers out of around 12 caught and lost a nice Red at the boat. Went out of Bottoms today and had the first keeper in the boat before the Sun peaked over the horizing  caught about 2 or three dozen Trout with most being just under 15"s and had my limit and culling by 9am :-D got borred with the Trout and decided ta try trolling a red headed Yozuri for an imaginary Spanish, that danged thang turned out ta be a REAL 20 incher   trolled for another 30 minutes and headed home with a smile on my face :smt050 Had a fella call on the radio wanting ta know just how many Spanish he could keep also, said he had around 10 already, SO THEY IS HEAR PEOPLE :smt060

Well, ya caught a few fish, and got out of the house. Did the Sopchoppy Redneck come back from Aucilla in one piece?

Okay, I'll bite. Why aren't the stripers there?
What was I supposed to do today?

Didn't find any rocks :-D but did find several Oyster Bars :o
And the Stripers are "for the most part" further up river :-D

Striper's are very different than some species.... they are for the most part VERY AFRAID of wigs and when one blows off.... they generally head up riv :-D er!
"Good Judgement" comes from experience, ... and a lot of that..... results from "Bad Judgement".

Wevans, how deep were the bottoms trout? Were they on the flats or near the oyster bars?

All of them came out of 1 1/2 to 3 foot of water, not so much as a nibble any deeper, my fist fish was caught right out from the landing and the rest on the flats between the landing and Piney Island  I didn't get more than a thousand yards from the landing untill I went out to the channel and trolled for the Spanish :-D

They really liked the top water plugs, but could not get a hookup due to the rough water. All fish came on a CT, 18" line with a 1/4 ounce jighead and a 3" white nightglow shrimp with red tail   Give em hell :-D

Thanks, that's what I thought. I haven't been in there in a while. Can a car handle the road now (kayak on roof)?

You must be thinking of Skipper Bay Litt, the Bottoms Landing Rd. is paved all the way to the ramp "which is at the end" :-D
I don't go down the Skipper Bay Rd. unless there has been a LONG dry spell :o
