puerto vallarta

Post by ak man »

I haven't posted in forever, but I have been fishing a lot......Went to PV on my honeymoon at the end of May and convinced the wifey to go offshore. Much devious planning was done on my part when picking a honeymoon location to make sure the fishing was good. We actually left out of Punta Mita about 45 northwest of PV. We fished with Capt Lora on a 25ft Panga with twin 115's. We literally pushed off of the beach in this little fishing village. Lora's equipment was top of the line and he was a great capt. We fished around the infamous corbetania rock and caught all the horse eye and cravelle jacks that you could want on topwater poppers......reel as fast as you could and you would see a wake coming behind the lure, then ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. Also caught some cubera snappers (pargo). In the afternoon we headed north looking for dorado and sailfish....never found the 'phins, but the sails were everywhere.... we went 3 for 3 and should have hooked about 3 more.......at one point I was standing on the bow with 5 sailfish within 50 yds. All of them were caught by sight casting live google eyes....it was AWESOME......

So my story was close we went to Cancun Chartered and she had a panic attack on the ride out.
Turns out this is one love we don't share she was scared to death it wasn't even rough.
We caught some fish nothing really great the day before we left I did a 1/2 day inshore.
I caught a baby Tarpon on the fly in the Mangroves on a flats skiff across from the hotel.
Your fish have mine beat and if your wife enjoyed it even better!!
Yesterday it was taboo today it is normal what the heck will they be doing tomorrow?

AK,
You are the man. My guess is not many "men" could pull that off on a honeymoon. It's not really designed to happen like this, but you may have earned your "GROWN MAN's CARD" on day one of your married life. Don't screw it up, Dude.....it's tougher to get back once taken away. :o
