somewhere new

Post by blue22 »

I've been driving from tallahassee to st marks for about a year to go fishing. I'm ready to try somewhere new, but need ya'lls help. Where can I go that I won't spend 2 1/2 hours roundtrip driving, but will catch some good fish. Trout and Reds are what I'm looking for. I've looked at the Ecofina and Lanark, both seem to be a little over an hour driving time. Looking for suggestions. I'd have to use a good paved ramp too. Just looking for a different place! Thanks

I plan on heading that way again, when they get the ramp finished.

Second that. 2-1/2 hours one way. Makes for a long day or short weekend.

Yeah but at least you've got the camper down there now.

Is there a good bit of structure in that general area? Oyster bars and such? I've looked at maps of the area and I can't tell if heading north from that point is as shallow as it looks or if we should go down towards Ocklochnee Bay, Bald Head area.

Put in at Bottoms Road. There is a river channel that runs between Piney Island and the bank. You can see it on a chart. If you head that way you'll be in an area know as Oyster Bay. So yes there are plenty of bars in that area. The mouth of the Ock. river is full of bars too. But be careful and take your time learning or you will scratch you boat/lower unit for sure.
