Motor issue

Post by Reel Cowboy »

I had a little scare Saturday when I got the boat backl on the trailer. Oil was coming out of the coupling where the lines and controls go under then cowling. I trimmed it back down to take the cowling off and the inside housing had a fair amount of oil in it. It appears that the reserve tank, mounted on the motor, cap had worked loose and was leaking oil. We tightened it back up and drained what we could out and filled the main tank back up. I ran it a little yesterday and it looks as though it's fixed. The motor is an '07 150 Optimax
Now the question, is there something I should replace? I can't find an O-ring or gasket around the cap.
What are the chances I messed my motor up? Again, it ran fine Sunday morning and when I flushed it yesterday afternoon.

Thanks for the help guys.

Matt,
I can't sware to it but I think I remember my '07 115 optimax having a black rubber gasket under the oil cap. It stayed with the cap when removed.

I'm sure we can work something out, but it might take little more than duck tape.
