A Brief Synopsis

Over the last couple months I've been catching trout on the full and new moon negative low tides in the evening. Fishing jigs and Gulp! shrimp in swash channels as the tide is falling and the flats become exposed. Fishing slow, near or on the bottom has produced quite a few trout; mostly short but a limit of slot fish can be filled by sticking with it. This has also produced ladyfish, hardhead catfish, sailcats, a few Spanish and flounder, 1 small grouper, and 1 black seabass.

The first and last quarter moons have been productive for me for reds on the falling tide in the evening fishing right up against the spartina grass with topwaters; TopDog Jrs., SheDogs, Devil's Horses, Lucky13. Yesterdays red, the last one I caught, smashed a chrome Baby Torpedo fished on an 8 lb. spinning outfit.

Little sharks like big pinfish and they're all over. Sharks and big sailcats I've been catching on an 18' Master Crappie Grabber rigged with 20 lb. test Ande Premium and an 8/0 circle hook under a popping cork by just drifting across the grass flats. The sharks especially seem to like it when the pole is held so that the pinfish struggles and splashes on and just below the surface.

I haven't done much of jack-diddly-squat with anything else I've tried lately.
