Sportsman's Warehouse closing

I went by there today and the prices were 10-30% off and not much was 30% off. I didn't see anything cheaper than anyplace else. I suggest South Georgia Outdoors and Kevins. You get customer support if you have a problem and a great price.

Re: Sportsman's Warehouse closing
There about a month ago looking at reels, I was talking to one of their "Fishing Dept." guys and we conversed about the lack of selection and fittings to our Big Bend area of fishing. He agreed that it was horrible. He said that corporate had the options of their stock, not the store managers or district managers; only the people that had no idea about anything in the area. He said, "I guarantee you we'll be starting to shut our doors within 3 months, too many people come in here complaining of the lack of selection and we just do not do enough sales, in any dept..."
...I guess he was right

Re: Sportsman's Warehouse closing
after four trips there without finding what I was looking for, I placed a similar, yet more direct, comment in their comment box. It is sad when (1) I have go to the Walmart next door to get a Talquin chart (2) nobody in the fishing section knows what Yamalube is, probably 25% or more of their customers run Yamahas (3) you have an employee move a plug back to the wrong location b/c they want to make a depleted inventory look full, there is a reason there is nothing left on one hook....it is the desired color.....I could go on as I did on "comment."galantnole wrote:There about a month ago looking at reels, I was talking to one of their "Fishing Dept." guys and we conversed about the lack of selection and fittings to our Big Bend area of fishing. Can't say I'm suprised by this announcement. Fortunately or unfortunately depending on one's perspective, I can't say I'll miss them very much. So much potential; such a pathetic business plan....
In the end we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. And we will understand only what we are taught.

As of the 4th, they had some Temple Fork rods still left for 10% off. Not great, but not bad either. Most of the selection was in the freshwater range, which is not surprising considering the majority of comments in this thread. Fly lines discounted too and flies were as low as .69 cents if you bought a dozen.

Re: Sportsman's Warehouse closing
You're welcome. They had quite a few Redington rods also with a bigger selection.
They've got guys on the street with placards waving them on Mahan and Capital Circle. More vehicles in the parking lot than any time since they've been open.
The vultures are circling

Re: Sportsman's Warehouse closing
I need a reel for my 9wt they have anything SK?
Re: Sportsman's Warehouse closing
They did have some Okuma SLV 89's...I got a 45 on my bream rod and for the money its a good reel...used it week before last up on the White River in Ark trout fishing...I may buy another one if they have one left tomorrow for a 4 wt. I have...
In fact, if they have any of the Reddington RS4's left I may buy one of them in a 3 or 4 wt.
