July Turney

Post by Sea Spot »

Bobby and I launched and headed for our first hole looking for a pig trout.our plan was to fish shallow early to pick up our big trout and then get our red before moving out to get our other 4 fish.We hit several spots that have produced pigs in the past with no luck.We moved to our red hole that we have caught several upper and over slot reds on lately but again notta. We then moved out to 6 to 8 ft. water (Which i hate) and managed to pick up 5 keeper trout. We moved back in for bigger fish but couldn't find one.Around one we hit the red hole again and Bobby hooks up.The fish is ripping drag fast so i ask (Do we need to go after him)I see him make a huge boil 40 yards from the boat and then his back come out of the water.(YEAH) we need to go after him.We are both thinking he is way over slot but it's the most excitement we've had all day.I neal down at the trolling motor and began chase. After a long fight Bobby gets him close enough for the net.We lay him on the scale and bam 27 on the dot .We pick up another 23 incher and head in .Dispite JT's efforts Pat calls out 27 inches and drops him on the scales.7.6 pds.which was enough to win the red pot.Good job Bobby, enjoyed it.
