Links to Water Conditions & Maps??

Post by Littoral »

What sites do any of you like for maps and current water conditions (especially temps)?
Also, Tom, any progress on the data base of photos & descriptions of ramps in the big bend area? I'll get some info for St. Joe, Indian Pass, etc if you need them.

Water Temps

Post by GeneO. »

littoral,

I've been doing some research on the water temp thang. The service I used in the past doesn't provide us with Gulf service, http://www.sstcharts.com

I have found one but it's a paid service, http://www.terrafin.com/ , and I'm not sure how accurate the Lng/Lat's are in relation to the temp breaks

If you find any let me know.

Here's one that's nearshore (~500 yards). It's in C so F requires a calculator, but at least they give you the formula.

Give this link a try it's today's. http://www.terrafin.com/sstview/samples/freeflanw.htm .

I haven't been able to scale it on a map yet but may not need to as the newer version is Java based and gives the long/Lat on the mouse pointer. Good news is this is today's and the South wind seems to have brought some nice water up, Maybe soon!!!!!!!

Bit the Bullet

Post by GeneO. »

Hey Littoral,

I bit the bullet today and signed up for the year on the SST service. They don't allow for posting the charts so I'll have to give locations and temps, if wanted.

Let me know,

GeneO, thanks, I was tempted because the price is reasonable. It's this time of year that it really matters but since I'm inshore bound in a kayak the real warm water pelagic stuff isn't often an option for me.
