Texas Flats Skiff for sale

Post by Chalk »

Gentleman that I have spoken with on the woodenboat forum is selling his boat. Rod built this boat from plans drawn for him by Tracy O' Brien - http://www.tracyobrien.com/default.asp
I am selling my flats skiff with an as new Yamaha 90hp two stroke outboard, both the jet pump and the prop lower unit... galvanized trailer, custom aluminum leaning post, poling platform, and grabrail. I am asking $15K including the boat, motor, trailer, both lower units, and a Minnkota 55 ft lb salt water trolling motor. This is a perfect boat for drifting flats and is very stable and a wonderful platform for fishing with 3-4 people. All the thought and customization that went into this boat was to make a great fly fishing skiff for shallow water. The fuel tank is a 45 gallon Inca polyethylene...trolling motor bracket custom "L" bracket that is removable for a clean deck when fly fishing. Anchor locker self draining at the bow.

Rod is selling the boat to build a Herreshoff Alerion daysailer.

The flats boat is built with composite construction (wood, epoxy & fiberglass) and has a epoxy graphite bottom finish - same finish that river and air boats use to bounce off of rocks and like objects. Would make a great flats boat in the panhandle.

I have never been on the boat or seen it - if you have any questions ask Rod.

Drafts too deep for me. I fish in 3 inches of water where there are acres and acres of trout and redfish.

That is an interesting boat. I would be curious to see how it holds up over time. I bet it looks cool in person, the pics look good.
