Sunday

Met up with some of my dads buddys and our captain and headed out to catch bait at our stop we werent getting any bait but then we put some peices of dead bait on the sabikis and started catching small grunts. they worked pretty good for the day. so after bait catching we went to a number about 3 or 4 miles away and put down dead. nm except for a couple short endangered red snapper!!! and a keeper lane snapper. :-) :-). second spot more snapper then a black sea bass and then i get slammed by wat we thought was a shark or jewfish fought him for about 10 or 15 then we break the line. spot number 3 nothing.for our last spot we hit a wreck in about 70 foot. i drop down and red snapper come right away but no keepers. Everbody else is catching red snapper or nothing so i drop down a strip bait and hookup on something nice get it up thought it was a cobia but it ended up being a nice king :-D :-D!!!! gaff him and hes in the box then my dads buddy hooks a 3 foot shark. So after we get done bottom fishing we do a little trolling for kings and after 3 or 4 minutes our artificial goes off and i get the rod and set the hook and hand the rod to my dads freind son. he fites him to the boat and i get to the honor of gaffing and the king gets caught in the motor so we are trying to get the line out ( thank goodness it was 300 pound florocarbon lol ). finally the king gets to the top and we gaff with the line still in the motor. i break out the still stick and silence the king then get the hook out. No keeper red snapper the whole day and didnt even get one short grouper or keeper. Plus the seas were rough. weather report was wrong again thats not suprising lol.

Sunday ill just keep short and sweet.

got from under the bridge and started to haul tale but the motor gets hot and stops working for a little bit so i guess we will just drive slow today we thought. caught pogeys with the cast net.caught cats and sharks at dry bar. at the cut cats cats and more cats plus a decent blue fish. nothing on the flats except cats and one short trout that i caught
then decied to head in and the motor gets hot again but it had been doing that the whole day got to have it checked i guess.we could only run about 7 or 8 knots the whole day from start to finish. anyway head in and the motor runs to hot for the boat and it quits for good. call sea tow and after an hour and a half sea tow shows up and we head in. nice 225 fee cause we forgot to renew the seatow membership   . had a nice dinner at papa joes and loaded up the boat and headed to the hotel.

Kind of bad weekend i guess. better than sitting at home i know!

Happy fishing Grouper King!!!!! :smt006 :smt006 :smt006
