Econfina Aug 1

Post by skeeter-eater »

Had a favorable tide this morning and decided to giver her a go. I was hoping that maybe the rain could atleast hold off until noon or so, but naaa.

Anyway, got down there before daylight and it was already windy....just as forecasted....a south wind. A lot of grass....to much for top water....dang. After fishin last weekend with Atticus, i was ready for some more top-water action....no do. Decided to tie on the trusty Johnson's gold spoon. My buddy Mike did the same...Within about 10 minutes Mike reeled in a small red about 17 inches.....threw it back....gained some hope.

Then about 20 minutes later i landed a 21 inch red.

Now i know what your thinking.....man it looks gorgeous....but back off toward perry this was the real story....and closing fast.

We decided to high tail it back to the truck and just made it. We waited for about an hour but it just wouldn't leave. So we called it a day. All in all, had a good time, but wish we werent cut short.

It was better than what I did, sorta. Yard sales are sometimes good.

I would have rather been fishing.

  Nice reds. At least ya didn't leave empty-handed. The rain must be everywhere right now, I fished the SGI Bridge yesterday (both sides of it) and it rained all around the Island and Eastpoint. But didn't get wet until I left, then the bottom fell out. You did right not staying out there, it's not fun when it rains that hard.

Nice trip. Wish I was there, but seems the chainsaw was the flavor of the day for me :smt010

You might be dangerously close to one of my best redfish holes. Be cautious.
