Boo is home from the animal hospital and has been seen by his usual vet. He is very tired and sore, but already asking for food. I am staying home with him for the rest of the week. Yesterday was one of the worst days of my life. I feel awful because I knew how to prevent bloat and just wasn't cautious enough. I will never be able to express how grateful I am for Dr. Fulmer. He and the Apalachicola Bay Animal Clinic staff saved my best friend.
Here's my recovering boy.

Glad to hear he's home. He'll be back to himself before you know it. Way to notice the emergency immediately and have it remedied. :smt041

Glad to hear things are heading in a good direction. However, I don't believe you have any particular liability in this matter. From what I've seen on the subject, it can happen to an animal that has been very well cared for regardless of the feeding habits, etc. The advice I've seen most often is become familiar with the symptoms, watch for them and then act as quickly as possible. It sure looks like that's what happened in this case. You, Katie, and Boo are all winners as a result.

Steve, Boo wishes you were here to sneak him treats now. Doc told me not to feed him until tomorrow. You should see the, "But, I'm starving!" looks he's giving me.

Glad he is continuing to improve!
Boo looks like he is thinking "What in the heck just happened. I was just done eating dinner and then......"
